In the Philippines, Christmas starts early. The continuous jingles, the flashing lights, the winter decor - yes, even in this tropical nation - all get going as soon as the leaves turn color in the United States.
In September, when many Americans cringe at the sight of Halloween candy hitting store shelves, on the other side of the world, Filipinos prepare to welcome the Christ child, or Santo Niño, into their homes. And they couldn’t be happier.
